What is a bareboat charter?
Bareboat sailing offers a more private holiday experience, where clients can charter a fully-equipped yacht and sail without the assistance of a skipper. Bareboat sailing holidays offer the flexibility and freedom that make sailing so much fun, especially in regard to the trip itinerary. You can truly be the captain of your vessel and take the wheel for the length of your trip.
What are the benefits of bareboat sailing holidays?
Bareboat sailing holidays are ideal for families and groups who might want an adaptable itinerary. If you want to stay another day in a certain location, or spontaneously veer off the course, that’s fine! Variations and changes to the schedule are easy and totally up to you, so charterers can make the most of their sailing holidays and truly craft a bespoke, personal holiday. Yacht4Less can provide a 7 or 14-day itinerary, full of suggestions for places to visit (beaches, marinas, islands, restaurants), overnight stops and anchorages, as well as activities for each stopover, which clients can choose to follow exactly or use as a loose guide.
What makes bareboat charters special is the intimate setting that you can enjoy with your loved ones. Without all the extra crew members running about, you can relax and revel in the serenity of the moment - together. Bond over things like cooking together, lying out at night and stargazing, or exploring uncharted waters. All you need is the right licensing, and you can strike off on your own.

Bareboat Sailing Certifications
When it comes to bareboat sailing - it is worth noting that different regions are subject to different sailing requirements. For example, a charter in the Mediterranean would require you to have a sailing license (RYA, ICC, ASA, etc.). However, a comparable charter in the South Pacific or the Caribbean would not require the same qualifications; in most cases, a sailing resume showing the charterer’s sailing experience would be sufficient instead.
