Catamaran Charters in Croatia

Catamaran Charters in Croatia

Catamarans and Croatia are two of Yacht4Less’ most popular options. We’d consider this our expertise! Let us tell you everything you need to know to have an amazing holiday!

 Who

Here at Yacht4Less, our favorite thing about catamaran charters is the fact that they are extremely versatile. From first-time sailors to seasoned yachtsmen, catamarans are good for all skill levels. They’re very speedy and incredibly stable, making them not only fun but quite relaxing. You won’t have to worry about heeling or rolling while anchored, but you can also zip around much faster than with a monohull.

It’s these attributes that make catamarans work for many age groups. Older sailors will enjoy the spacious layout below deck and the extra stability that give catamarans a much smoother ride.

Younger sailors and children will also enjoy a spacious foredeck with room for all sorts of activities. The net area between the two hulls of the catamaran is perfect for some fun in the sun! You can use it as a trampoline, a sun deck, or a lookout point.

Catamarans are well designed for different types of groups as well. Most boats will have two single cabins, in addition to the four main double cabins. This means that even with a group of eight people, such as two families, there will still be room for professional crew if needed, such as a skipper and hostess, or cook.

Usually, catamarans are designed with four cabins and two bathrooms or four cabins and four bathrooms. This ensures plenty of privacy for everyone. Sometimes you can get a catamaran with two cabins and two bathrooms on one side, and a suite that spans the entire hull on the other side. This is the perfect set-up for a family; Let the kids run free on one half and parents can have a little sanctuary on the other.

 What

Catamarans are one of the most popular options for charter boats. They’re swift, easy to sail, spacious, and comfortable. Because of the boat’s design, with two hulls, you will practically glide through the water. This means a much less choppy ride and much faster speeds. You’ll be able to go around 20 to 50% faster than a monohull.

Since catamarans have shallow drafts, they are easier to maneuver in shallow waters. You can access many different anchorages with a catamaran since the draft is usually 4 feet or less.

There are a number of different models to choose from as well. Some of Yacht4Less’ favorites are the Lagoon, Fountaine Pajot, Bali and Nautitech brands. You can find our top-selling models in Croatia below.

 When

So, when should you go on this amazing catamaran charter in Croatia? Anytime is a good time, but the sailing season is typically between May and October. This is when you’ll get the best weather and the most sunshine! Temperatures typically run between 18°c and 25°c and the water temperature is around the same.

Alternatively, if you’re looking to avoid the crowds and get a good deal, try September. You’ll still catch some great weather, but prices will be about 15 to 20 percent less, as it is part of the country’s shoulder season.

 Where

There’s certainly no shortage of incredible locations in Croatia, so picking your itinerary should be a breeze. Amongst Yacht4Less’ top spots are :

Croatia is such an extraordinary country, with so much to explore. Over the course of your charter, you can enjoy the lush, beautiful nature and interesting history and culture.

You must see Kornati National Park, which is considered a “nautical paradise” and a fantastic sailing environment. Test your yachting abilities while slaloming through the many islets and reefs. Navigating the stunning natural park will be a memory you can cherish forever.

Yacht4Less also recommends island hopping, making stops at Mljet, Korcula, and  Brac. Mljet, one of the larger islands, is a nice place to enjoy nature. It’s considered Croatia’s greenest island and there will be plenty of flora and fauna to explore. Also, take advantage of Mljet’s renowned farm culture and try the wine, olives and goat cheese. For a nice sunbathing beach try Saplunara, whose name means “Sand.”

Korcula is another amazing Croatian island that you should make sure you see. You’ll enjoy a beautiful walled old town and medieval architecture. For history buffs, you can visit the house that Marco Polo lived in, as Korcula claims to be Polo’s birthplace. Not too far from Korcula is Hvar, a very upscale and chic area of Croatia. The rich and famous are often spotted partying around the island, in hotspots like Carpe Diem Bar or Giaxa Restaurant.

Lastly, Yacht4Less loves the island of Brac! Here you’ll find Vidova Gora, the highest point on the Adriatic Islands. Hike the mountain for some unbelievable views of Hvar, Bol, and Zlatni Rat. Brac is just the right spot for a some snorkeling. Due to the island’s rocky, mountainous terrain, you’ll find an interesting underwater landscape to explore.

Of course, every stop you make will have the same beautiful, crystal-clear blue water that the Adriatic Sea is famous for. There’s nowhere better to spend the day than out swimming, paddleboarding, or kayaking - or even fishing! If you’re up for it, you can partake in the rich Croatian tradition that built many small villages’ economy.
